Jacquemus&rsquo;s &ldquo;Les Sculptures&rdquo; spring/summer 2024 show debuted today at the Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.&nbsp;

Jacquemus&rsquo;s &ldquo;Les Sculptures&rdquo; spring/summer 2024 show was teased out by the brand via instagram before showing today at the Maeght Foundation in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Six key pieces from the collection were shown on the brand&rsquo;s instagram, accessories like the gold &ldquo;Nodi&rdquo; bracelet and &ldquo;The Vanito&rdquo; purse were displayed like museum archive pieces, the brand even had Kristin Davis of &ldquo;Sex and The City&rdquo; fame putting on a pair of white gloves to inspect its &ldquo;le pull sur les &eacute;paules&rdquo;. The marketing move played with codes of museum archives and high art in anticipation for the show which took place surrounded by sculptural works from Richier, Mir&oacute;, Giacometti, Takis, and Bury among other 20th and early 21st century masters. The foundation itself, established by Aim&eacute; and Marguerite Maeght in 1964, is a leading cultural institution and was France&rsquo;s first private art institution. Its architecture, and the show&rsquo;s setting, is a reinterpretation of the codes of mediterranean villages. Earthy terracotta colors and stone, white accents, and large patios are indicative of the gem that is the C&ocirc;te d'Azur, and a part of the DNA of the Jacquemus brand. The perfect scene for his first show of the year.&nbsp;

Models walked down the runway in, of course, sculptural pieces. Looks came in a subdued, classic color palette of creams, black, gray, and red, but were by no means austear. The silhouettes emphasized rounded and exaggerated shoulders, and pieces were both relaxed and geometric. Jacquemus' signature playful tone shined through in the show&rsquo;s details; ostrich feathers dotted onto suits, bold animal print fabric, and embossed leather-like sets. Pants had waistlines that extended into a disk and wrapped around the body, collars and lapels on suits were stretched and repositioned. Jacquemus&rsquo;s ss 2024 collection emphasized shape and dimension above all else, merging the signature playful codes of the house with a more sober and structured silhouette. We can rely on Jacquemus to create beautiful, marketable ready-to-wear, and the pieces were what we have come to expect of the designer. Though the clothes were not as whimsical or colorful as they have been in the past, they did embody a beautifully tailored and refined luxury. Jacqumues himself labeled it &ldquo;pop-luxury&rdquo;, a lux with wit and humor characteristic of the fashion house. As the brand said on instagram &ldquo;this collection is all about the products&rdquo;; Jacquemus presented a collection of meticulously constructed pieces that hold their own even in front of Giacometti&rsquo;s &ldquo;Les Femmes de Venise&rdquo; (1956).
